THEATRE AFTER THE DAM

Together with theatre-makers Julia Hesdahl and philosopher Mare Roelfsema, young people delve into the history of WW2 and talk to elderly people about their memories of that time. Using these conversations as inspiration, valuable art expressions will be created by young people at 32 locations across the country on 4 May. Wildpark took the initiative in 2019 to join this national project annually from Eindhoven.

More than 50 youth projects
As the generations that consciously experienced World War II themselves disappear, reflection on meaningful remembrance and ‘never again war’ is more urgent than ever for younger generations.
How can younger generations empathise with what happened then? How do you recognise signs of undermining the rule of law and radicalisation now that also emerged in the 1930s?
How do you connect meaningfully with victims to commemorate them with dignity? How do you commemorate the past in these complicated times?
Youth performances have been an essential part of Theatre After Dam since 2012. The more than 500 young actors of the more than 50 youth projects will gather on 25 April 2026 for Youth Day.
